Hurricane Sandy, part 47

The #121212 Concert last night reminded me that I was sitting on a bunch of pics that I took during Hurricane Sandy.

A Drive Into Darkness

I was displaced by Hurricane Sandy for a week. When I woke up Tuesday morning, I was without power, water or cell phone service. Thankfully, my fiance’s sister lives in Hell’s Kitchen, which was left completely untouched. So we camped out there for the week. Come Wednesday night, the streets looked like any other Wednesday night. Also, Halloween. Lots of costumes out and about. Which stood in stark contrast to life below 34th st. Wanting to document that contrast, I hopped into my car and drove down 9th avenue…

Shot from my rooftop during the blackout and after ConEd turned most of the lights on downtown.

While walking up 18 flights of stairs was no fun, it pales in comparison to what the outer boroughs and NJ are going through right now. My heart goes out to them.

Busy Dad

I’ve featured Aleks on the blog before. Well, now he’s got a new bike, and two great kids that aren’t confined to cribs anymore. So with that in mind, we went out and did a shoot under some fantastic fall colors.

I also got to work on my environmental portraiture.
